I did like this book, very much (see my review). I will probably look up other things by Rash.

I can't decide if I liked it or not. I'm constantly wavering. For the most part I found it interesting, but some parts dragged for me. The dying just went on and on. If Serena and Galloway weren't killing someone, then someone else was dying in the woods. It got to where it became predictable.

I read through your review, and you mentioned that the chapters with Rachel weren't as interesting for you. Rachel was my favorite character. I think she was a much stronger woman than Serena. Rachel got through obstacles by working hard and doing what had to be done for her and Jacob. She was a 16 year old girl who made a life for herself on her own. When Serena was faced with problems, she just had someone killed. She rarely even did it herself. She simply dispatched Galloway to do the dirty work. I looked forward to Rachel's chapters as a relief from all of the plotting and sadness.

Actually, I found all of the side character's more interesting that Serena. Especially, Snipes and his crew. I can't think of the best way to describe them. To me they felt like the glue that kept the story together and flowing.

I am with Kristi. I found Serena frustrating and I looked forward to hearing about Rachel. I also enjoyed the side of the wood cutters and I found the story of how hard and dangerous their work was to be very interesting. I didn't realize that such a job was so dangerous. We are so sheltered (thankfully) with all our machinery to do the dangerous work for us. I found the last chapter almost too predictable. I said to myself that she couldn't kill Pemberton, it was too obvious. Although the way she and Galloway did it was interesting. But still, predictable. My favourite part of the book was the parts where all the parts of Rachel's life. I found it very interesting the way she rebuilt her life. The parts where she was running from Galloway were very intense. I may pick up another book by Rash, just to see if I like it.
